Word Card

This will be the first review of Mnemosyne Word Cards by Maruman. In this review I will cover the basic look and feel of the product. In a later review, I will cover the usability and durability of the Word Cards.

I had ordered the Maruman Word Cards from JetPens. I intend to use these as flash cards for Kanji. I will write the Kanji on one side then on the reverse have meaning, pronunciation, and other words using that character.

The cards are soft to the touch with a textured surface. I kind of wish they were smooth but I don’t believe it will hurt for my purposes. I am concerned about durability since they feel so soft. I’m thinking that with too much handling the edges of the cards will start to peel apart.

Thickness is 0.0095″ which is just over twice the thickness of the premium printer paper I use daily which measures in at 0.0045″ thick. Compared to an index card which are 3″ X 5″ X 0.007″ the word card is shorter and skinnier but thicker coming in at 2.1″ X 4.1″ X 0.0095″. My hope is that the extra thickness with equate more rigidity.
